A classic in the National City Park

A little over 14 kilometers long circuit loop through some of Stockholm’s greenest and most historic areas. The Brunnsvik Loop with Norra Djurgården takes you through the National City Park – the world’s only national city park within a capital – and offers beautiful water views and green urban nature close to central Stockholm.

About the route

The route is a circuit loop of 14.6 kilometers with start and end point near the coordinates at Brunnsviken, in the area around Haga or Bellevue. The route passes through both Solna municipality and Stockholm municipality, with passage through Bergshamra as a geographical marker along the way. This means you cycle around or along Brunnsviken – the beautiful lake-like bay that forms one of the area’s most characteristic features – and continue into the Norra Djurgården nature reserve within the National City Park.

Along the way you will likely pass historic environments such as Haga Park with its royal installations, and possibly views towards Edsviken or the calm waters of Brunnsviken. It’s a route that works well for a relaxing ride without too much exertion, but with a rich landscape to take in.

The road and surface

Since the route passes through the National City Park and moves between Solna and Stockholm, the surface is likely to vary along the way. Parts of the stretch probably run on asphalt cycle and pedestrian paths, while other sections may have gravel or more natural trails, especially within the park areas. We recommend a bicycle with slightly wider tires if you want to feel confident regardless of surface – a hybrid bike or similar works well here.

Good to know

Since the route passes through popular park areas, there may be foot traffic along the stretch, especially on nice weekends. Adjust your speed and show consideration. There are good public transport connections to the start area by subway and bus, making the route easy to reach without a car. Feel free to bring a snack – along the shores of Brunnsviken there are nice places to stop and rest. The route is a circuit loop, which means you always return to the starting point without needing to plan your journey home.
